I used to hate going to work every morning and constantly counted down the minutes until I could leave. Last year, I made a brave decision to switch my career path, which was the best decision I ever made. I took over 50 career tests to find my true passion and wanted to share my journey to help others find their perfect career by sharing what I learned. Let's discover your true calling and find a career you'll love!
Hello!
I am a Chicago-based professional now working in the tech industry. Growing up, I had a wide range of career aspirations - from being a teacher to a firefighter and even a nurse. I was always drawn to the individuals I had positive interactions with, and would often imagine myself becoming just like them.
As I grew older and learned more about different occupations, my choices narrowed. By the time I reached college, I found myself only considering careers that my friends and classmates were interested in, which often meant jobs that had the highest starting salaries and a known career advancement path.
After I graduated, I landed one of those big corporate jobs. I was financially comfortable and enjoyed the first few years of my life post-college. I learned to separate my social life from my work life. My work life soon became pretty monotonous and unfulfilling, but as long as I could enjoy one of two lives (social and work), I thought that was ok.
However, as I passed my mid-20s, I began to notice something. I saw two types of people - those who, like me, separated their work from their personal life and accepted that work life can be difficult, and others who enjoyed their work life just as much as their personal life. These people couldn't stop talking about their work and had a sparkle in their eyes when they did. They showed so much confidence and joy when talking about their work and how fulfilled they were with it. And it wasn't just doctors or people with so-called 'noble' occupations that belonged to this group - regular people had found jobs that fit them perfectly too.
I began to notice interesting similarities among this second group. Hearing about their work, I couldn't help but think, "Wow, this job fits them so well." This was when I started wondering how they found jobs that fit so well with them. Luckily, one of my close college friends belonged to this group. She and I had graduated with the same major and had gotten our first job in the same industry. But when I saw her again five years later, she was pursuing a completely different career than what she had started and was visibly happier. When asked, she introduced me to the career test.
Since then, I have been obsessed with career tests and have taken over 50 tests to date to find my true passion and calling. I am now officially part of this second group, and many of my friends have followed after a series of life events that have taken on them, which rose from the current economic climate. This is why I created this blog - to help others find a career that is suited for them and lead a happier life, just as I and my friends did. I hope this blog can turn your work life to be more fulfilling than ever :)
